SECURITY
Total Control's structure is based on
"system safe" principles.
This means that this software performs several tests before
new settings are applied, warns you for critical changes that
could lead your system to crash and suggests values and
conditions that would increase your system's performance.
If you are sure about what you are doing and
what every
change affects, then you can disable warnings and help in Options.
But due to the wide variety of hardware and
software
combinations available and the ability that this software
gives YOU to push your system over its limits, there is always
the possibility of system crash.
Total Control gives you the ability to
recover your
system to the functional state that it was, before
the last time this software run.
Every time Total Control runs and if it has
not been
disabled by you, in Options, a snapshot of your
system
is taken (only the last snapshot is kept).
So, if your system behaves strangely, or even
if it can not
boot after the changes you made, then:
If you are SURE that your system's strange
behavior
is caused by an extreme value you have set, then
run Total Control again* and correct this value.
* Warning:
If you run Total Control again, a new snapshot of your
system will be taken, so if there is a problem this will
be recorded, making this backup unusable.
If you are not sure and you can boot into the
Windows,
then you have to click Start>Shutdown> "Restart in MsDos mode"
to boot into the command line. Then type "Sos" without
the quotes, press 'Enter' and the backup files will automatically
replace the existing ones, restoring the system to its last
functional state. Then restart your computer as usual.
Warning:
Do not use the Windows Dos box for this.
If your system is unable to boot into the
Windows,
then boot into the command line, by pressing F8
while the system starts and selecting "Command
prompt only" from the menu that will appear.
Then type "Sos" without the quotes, press 'Enter'
and the backup files will automatically replace
the existing ones, restoring the system to its last
functional state. Then restart your computer as usual.
