  Creating an album
Click Make Album on the Tools menu.

Chose the security type.

If you want to allow the viewer to display the content without restrictions, leave security type unmarked. Although no extraction is granted as default.

If you want to restrict display and extraction of the pictures into separate files, check mark security type and select the appropriate criteria from the following options.

View

It allows the viewer to display the pictures after correct password verification.

Extraction

It allows the viewer to display and extract individual pictures on request after correct password verification.

Chose and type a password. Copy/Paste function is enabled and can be used into this field.

If you do not select a security type the album will show the pictures without restrictions, but extraction is not possible from the application. This method carries no protection whatsoever other than clipboard disabling. However, be advised that pictures packed with this method can be extracted by hacking the data file itself.

Filters

In this section you tell the application what type of files you want to include in the album. This is useful in case you keep multiple pictures in the same folder.
In the other hand, if you separate pictures into different folders or if you want to include all the pictures from the selected folder, just leave this setting
Complete folder, as appears as default and proceed to the next step.

As explained above, you can restrict the file types to look for into the selected folder. Restriction can be applied to a files of a determinate maximum and minimum range. Use the
at least and at most option and type the appropriate range.

For folders that contain a variety of file types, you can also restrict the search for a determinate file type. In such a case, select
Files of these types option. This selection can be inclusive or exclusive depending if you check mark the AND option.

Choosing the folder

Press the Open button to display the file system screen. Once there, navigate to the folder where your picture files are.

Select any one file and press the Open button. Picture Bag will add to the batch all the files from the selected folder which match the selected rules.

Immediately after, a new file system screen shows for you to type a name for the bag file.
Chose an appropriate name and type the extension you want it to have.
If you don't add an extension, Picture Bag automatically uses .igf

If you use an extension other than .igf or .pib, Picture Bag will add this as part of the name and use .igf or .pib as a formal extension. In this case your file will look like this: myfile.ext.igf
The extension Picture Bag chooses depends on what extension was the default on the file system screen.

With this version of Picture Bag you can not select individual files but you can remove files from the batch if you wish they are not to be included. To do so, select the file(s) to remove and press the Remove button.

When you are certain the files shown match your criteria, press the
Finish button.

Please have in mind that the original filenames are not kept when building the album. If you ever need to extract pictures, you need to chose a fresh name for them. This is explained with higher detail on the extraction section of this document.

Tip: After a Picture Bag album is built, it can be safely compressed and packaged into a zip or other format. This is good to keep many albums together. Most packaging applications will prompt you to open the file with the associated application, when you select to View the package's content.
Note that the packaging application can not open and display the album if Picture Bag is not installed on the computer.

Tip: It is sugested when building albums to add pictures from the same source, for example a set of pictures taken with the same camera or processed with the same application. This is due to the compression mechanism used by Picture Bag which will render a better compression ratio to files that follow this rule.

  Micro Zoom
The micro zoom works on the album screen. This function permits to have a glimpse view of zones at individual pictures. For example, you can look for a detail in the thumb sized pictures before invoking the full size picture to open.

To invoke the micro zoom you can use any of the following commands.

Key
Z, Ctrl-Z key combination. Zoom selection at the Tools menu.
Additionally, you can click the zoom slider bar always present at the album screen. This is the small blue rectangle located at the left of the album container.

The micro zoom display shows whatever image is under the mouse pointer.
To increase or decrease magnification you can use the function keys
F1 to F12 or you can press the zoom buttons present on top of the album screen when micro zoom is enabled.

Pressing these buttons may be tricky since you have to move the mouse cursor from the present picture to a new location at top of the album and in the process the image on the magnification screen may change. To avoid this, click over the picture at the position you want the mouse to lock, then move the mouse pointer to the button you want to press.

While micro zoom mode is on, you can not open a picture for individual display. Hide the micro zoom by clicking the
Off button, or clicking on it slider bar then click on the picture you want to open.

Sending and Retrieving PIG data files over an Internet connection
Picture Bag data files (pib and igf) contain binary information. To transfer these files you need to set the transfer protocol of your FTP program to binary data transmission.

If you need to post these data files to your personal web page, be very clear to the visitor they need Picture Bag in order to see the pictures. A link to Picture Bag home site is appreciated and useful for the visitor. Picture Bag home site is located at http://www.bawy.org/pgtec/pib

Note: At some point in time PIB home site may be moved to a different server. If you fail to find it at the given web address (URL) try searching for it on a popular web search engine or at a popular software repository.
