I was and have been looking for a old game i believe it was around windows 95, it was a space game where you are in a ship that you can upgrade with different parts, i remember the last thing i got was the warp drive for it. it was a top looking down game, you could trade energy from parts of the ship to make something stronger or go faster, any help would be great! thank you

That sounds like Solar Winds. Both Solar Winds 1 & 2 can be found here on Dosgamer, just use the search feature at the top of the page.
