As reported yesterday, there has been an incident of file tampering. To protect the integrity of DOS Gamer, and to alleviate any further problems, the whole site has been reverted to a previous backup. No user accounts have been lost, however there may be one or two things (cheats, music files) that might not have been archived! Send me an PM if you spot anything.
Seems that some fool thought it would be fun to maliciously inject code code into some of the pages at DOS Gamer. It was a good attempt, don't quite understand the logic in putting HTML in javascript tags, meaning nothing happens! But on a more positive note, I have made the search a little smarter, and also if there is only one match you will be taken directly to the games' review page. Now last but not least, I have noticed one or two sites 'borrowing' screenshot images from DGZ, so now they are watermarked!
As part of the ongoing database improvements, I have altered the 'genre pages' to allow one to refine listings. I.e. sort by name, votes, upload date etc. This should make finding games a little easier.
Had a couple of requests on the message board, only been able to upload Museum Madness. But I did add cheats and a walkthru for it! I've also made BIG changes to the database system and backend system. All games can be found by typing dosgamer.com/game (using hyphens "-" as spaces and missing out most punctuation i.e. ,'$: etc. Not long now until an uber update I think!
Continuing from yesterday, I have made a Picture Gallery, so you can browse images uploaded by members to the message board and being used as avatars. Also added the whole CD soundtrack for the game Loom. I've also carried out quite a few tweaks to the back-end database code. The new database system is a matter of days away.....I got a nice big cheque from the advertising program today, that will cover the hosting for a while :-).
No new games online today :-( But I have made a few tweaks to the homepage today, It was annoying me so I moved a few things around. Also i've added a birthday section, in case you curious who's birthday it is today. This info is pooled from profile pages, so if you don't want to be included, just leave out your date-of-birth. Also the last five message board posts can be seen on the front page, which means you no longer have to go to the board, snooping to find new posts. Peace and Enjoy
